Property description
A rare combination within the city, a fine detached Victorian home.
A particularly fine late Victorian house which has mellow brick elevations, sash and casement windows, tile hung gable ends and decorative barge boards under a tiled roof.
From the drive steps lead down under an archway into a sunken garden and the part panelled front door which opens into the entrance vestibule and hallway. The main reception rooms are typical of the Victorian era, with beautifully proportioned high ceilings, combining lovely architectural details including feature fireplaces, cornicing, picture rails, further period joinery and some pine boarded floors. At the heart of the house lies the kitchen/breakfast room which was added within a most attractive orangery. There is a larder, utility room and a concealed door opens into a boot room and family/games room. On the first floor the principal bedroom is ensuite with three further large bedrooms, a family bathroom and a shower room. On the second floor, which features vaulted ceilings in pitched pine, there are a further two bedrooms, bathroom and cloakroom.
Off St Cross Road, a gravel driveway provides access to the property via double entrance gates and in turn to the open fronted garage with potential roof storage space. The mature gardens and grounds are a very special feature of the home. A paved terrace adjoins the house, which in turn leads down to terraced lawns with a variety of shrubs, trees, roses, a croquet lawn, fruit cage, greenhouse and various stores and sheds.
Please note the orchard/paddock will not be included within the letting agreement.
