Property description
Property Reference: 3061281.
“Little House” is the perfect home for those who have a love of historical buildings! This two bedroom cottage is believed to be over 500 years old and from the moment you step inside, this unique property is overwhelming with its history and charm. The property has since had a repaint - many walls are now painted a softer ' Setting Plaster ' colour by Farrow & Ball.
A solid wooden front door opens to the hallway with an exposed elm wood wall which is believed to be as old as the cottage! There is a cosy sitting room with inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. The kitchen has plenty of storage, a range cooker and space for a dining table and chairs. On this floor there is also a well presented shower room. The back door leads from the kitchen out to a pretty enclosed courtyard garden. The garden is south facing and a perfect little sun trap for enjoying the late summer sun.
From the sitting room a lovely stone spiral staircase leads up to the first floor where there are two bedrooms and a separate cloakroom.
Little House is a charming property packed full of period features including flagstone flooring, exposed timber, a stone mullion window and a spiral staircase and would appeal to those who love an older style building.
Outside there is on street parking available. If required property can be furnished.
Situation
Little House is in a central location in the picturesque town of Somerton, originally the county town of Somerset and before that, possibly the capital of Wessex. Somerton offers a good level of local amenities including a supermarket, two butchers and bakery. There are several public houses, restaurants, churches, infant and primary schools.
There are good transport links to London and the South west via the A303. Castle Cary railway station, just 11 miles away, offers an excellent direct rail service to London in less than two hours.
Local, highly regarded schools include Hazelgrove, Millfield, Kings Bruton, Kings Taunton and Sherborne.
