An exceptional extended period detached home located near the village green in the highly sought-after village of Therfield, surrounded by stunning open countryside, locations don't get much better than this. Situated on a plot in the region of 0.95 acres and with accommodation in excess of 4400 sq ft that is a perfect combination of original period features and contemporary finishing. Homes like this rarely come to the market, so we encourage you to view this home for full appreciation, it's quite exceptional. Offered unfurnished, available around the middle of December.
Approaching the property, you will be wowed with the kerb appeal of this home, the combination of the high thatch, warm coloured render, red bricked tiled roof and wall and black weatherboarding is simply exquisite. The long-gravelled driveway allows the appreciation of this and provides driveway parking for multiple vehicles and leads to a double garage. Stepping inside, the large entrance hall gives you an immediate feeling of light and space, this is a theme throughout. The décor is neutral and superbly presented, once again, this is a theme throughout this home.
The ground floor space is both generous and very flexible in its use, depending on your needs and desires. There are four main reception rooms, currently used as a large sitting room with twin bi-fold doors, formal dining room, playroom and study/family room. In addition is a boot room and utility room. Throughout the ground floor you will see period features including wooden beams, wood flooring, feature fireplaces and ornate radiators, just one thing that blends in the old and new.
The heart of this home and in our view the most stunning feature, must be the open plan kitchen, breakfast and family room with vaulted ceiling that make this room feel exceptionally large. This is a space you could spend all day as a family and what an amazing place to entertain friends. The glass walls that are an extension to the original building bring the whole of the outside in and make the room feel even more spacious than it already is, perfect in all seasons. The kitchen is fitted with a bespoke range of wall and base units with quartz worksurfaces, a full range of quality integrated appliances that you could possibly wish for in a modern home and nicely completed with an AGA, once again combining that period feel with the contemporary finish.
Going to the first floor, this home continues to impress. On the first floor you have 4 double bedrooms, two of which have en-suite facilities and also a family bathroom. On the second floor is a 5th bedroom, again with an en-suite, and with an adjoining loft room, ideal for lots of storage or even an adjoining bedroom if you did require. Back on the first floor, the master bedroom is yet another stunning feature of this home, with its vaulted ceiling and with a full rear glass elevation that overlooks the rear gardens and countryside beyond, what a view to wake up to in the morning.
Outside, the property has gardens on all aspects. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with hedge borders, a variety of mature trees, flower and shrub bedding, vegetable beds and with a paved patio area for sitting and entertaining. In addition, you have an outside store and log store. The gardens benefit from fantastic privacy.

Further amenities can be accessed a stone's throw away in the town of Royston, such as a leisure centre and a variety of sports clubs, including the golf club on Royston Heath. There are a variety of excellent schools to choose from, doctors and dentist surgeries, shops and supermarkets, all surrounded by beautiful countryside and many other pretty villages to explore. The A1M and M11 are within a 20-minute drive via the A10/A505, and London Stansted and Luton Airports are both 30-minutes away.
The Church of St. Mary has existed since the 13th Century and holds regular services and events, and the Fox and Duck public house offers fine food, the warmest of welcomes, and a wonderful countryside atmosphere. There is also a primary school, pre-school, and a cricket club with a large open green.
The village has a lot to offer residents who are looking to relax and escape into the countryside, while also being a very short distance to the nearest town and railways offering fast services directly into Cambridge or London.
Therfield is a small and peaceful north Hertfordshire village, situated upon the chalk range, 3 miles southwest of the town of Royston, and 6 miles northeast of the town of Baldock. The village is locally famous for its beautiful church, chapel and country pub, with the nature reserve of Therfield Heath lying a mile to the north of the village. From here, on a clear day, it's possible to see over 20 miles into the horizon, all the way over to Ely Cathedral.
