Property description
A rare opportunity to rent a truly exceptional apartment within this impressive Victorian country mansion, occupying an idyllic rural position on the edge of Leigh, yet within easy reach of Reigate. Set within extensive grounds and surrounded by beautiful countryside, this unique home offers an enviable combination of period elegance, generous proportions and modern-day comfort. Beautifully converted from the original mansion, the property retains a wealth of charming architectural features throughout.
The property is approached via a magnificent original staircase, overlooked by a striking stained-glass window, which leads into a bright and welcoming entrance hall. The ground floor is centred around a superb kitchen/dining room, which provides a wonderful space for both everyday living and entertaining. Featuring a range cooker, fireplace and attractive views over the surrounding grounds, it is a particularly charming room and a real focal point of the home. Also on this level is a spacious dual-aspect sitting room, enjoying plenty of natural light and a peaceful outlook, together with a fourth bedroom which could equally be used as a study or home office. A walk-in shower room completes the ground floor.
The accommodation continues to impress on the first floor, where the generous principal bedroom provides a wonderfully characterful retreat. With exposed period detailing, the room features a freestanding cast-iron bath, creating a luxurious focal point, alongside an en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe. Two further double bedrooms provide excellent additional accommodation, with one benefiting from an en-suite WC. The first floor also provides a spacious dual-aspect family/living room, where an original fireplace and far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside create a particularly attractive setting for relaxing or entertaining. From here, a staircase leads upwards to one of the property's most exceptional features: a private roof terrace. The impressive roof terrace provides wonderful far-reaching views towards the Surrey Hills and provides a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the changing seasons.
Outside, the property benefits from the use of extensive landscaped communal grounds, with established planting and areas of greenery creating a wonderfully private and tranquil setting. In addition, there is a good-sized private garden with a charming summerhouse and paved seating area, providing another delightful space for outdoor dining or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The property is further complemented by a single garage and residents' parking.
