The NTU City Campus is just a short 15-20 minute walk away or a quick 5-10 minute tram ride, making it ideal for students looking to live close to campus. For those studying at The University of Nottingham, Forest Fields offers good access as well, with regular buses and trams connecting to the University Park Campus in 20-30 minutes.
Student Living Options
One of Forest Fields' main draws for students is its affordability. The area offers a wide range of housing options, including shared student houses and flats, at prices that are generally lower than in the city centre or other popular student areas like Lenton. This makes it a perfect choice for students looking to keep living costs down while remaining close to their universities and essential amenities.
Public Transport Links
Forest Fields is well-connected to Nottingham's excellent public transport system. The NET tram network runs through nearby areas like The Forest and Hyson Green, providing fast, frequent services to Nottingham Trent University, The University of Nottingham, and the city centre. Students will find everything they need in nearby Hyson Green, which has a large Asda supermarket and an array of international grocery stores, cafes, and takeaways offering cuisines from around the world. Radford Road is lined with independent shops and services, making it easy to grab everyday essentials or enjoy affordable meals. The area's range of food options is ideal for students looking to explore different cultures while sticking to a budget.
Green Spaces and Outdoor Activities
One of Forest Fields' key features is its proximity to The Forest Recreation Ground, a large park that offers plenty of outdoor space for students to relax, exercise, or socialise. The park is perfect for jogging, playing sports, or having a picnic with friends. It's also the site of Nottingham's iconic Goose Fair, one of the UK's oldest and largest travelling fairs, which attracts thousands of visitors each year and is a must-attend event for students. Living close to such a significant event space adds a unique, festive atmosphere to the area.
Vibrant Social Scene
With its strong student population and proximity to other popular areas like Hyson Green and Lenton, Forest Fields has a vibrant social scene. Local pubs like The Golden Fleece and the variety of eateries and cafes around the area provide plenty of options for socialising with friends. Additionally, the close proximity to the city centre means students can easily access Nottingham's nightlife, cultural attractions, and entertainment venues with minimal effort.
