Set above a row of period shopfronts on Grays Inn Road, this first-floor one bedroom flat has been freshly finished and is ready to move straight into. Honey-toned pine floorboards run from front to back, catching the light from tall sash windows and giving the whole home a warm, lived-in character. It's an address with the buzz of King's Cross on one side and the leafy squares of Bloomsbury on the other. A calm, considered place to come home to in between.
The living room and kitchen share the front of the building, an open-plan space stretching to almost 17ft at its longest. A pair of sash windows with slim iron balconettes look out over the street, while crisp white walls and decorative coving keep everything bright and uncluttered. There's room for a proper sofa and a small dining table, plus a handy low built-in cupboard beside the window for the odds and ends of everyday life.
The kitchen wraps neatly around one corner in an L-shape. High-gloss white cabinetry with long brushed-steel bar handles sits against glossy black bevelled metro tiles – a classic monochrome pairing – while butcher block-style wooden worktops bring a welcome note of warmth. Underfoot, grey-and-white patterned encaustic-style tiles add a playful, almost Parisian touch. There's a ceramic hob with an extractor above, a built-in oven, a stainless steel sink with a curved mixer tap and a tall matt black fridge freezer. Recessed spotlights keep it bright from morning coffee to late-night pasta.
A hallway leads back past the bathroom, the same pine boards carrying you through to the bedroom at the rear. Set away from the street, this is a restful double with a wall of built-in wardrobes framing the doorway, deep cupboards overhead and open shelving to one side. Plenty of space for clothes, books and everything you'd rather keep out of sight.
The bathroom has been smartly finished in fresh white, with large-format gloss wall tiles and the kitchen's patterned floor tiles repeated for a nice sense of continuity. There's a full-sized bath with a curved glass screen and handheld shower on a slide rail, a chrome heated towel rail, a white vanity unit with two deep drawers, a mirrored wall cabinet and a WC with a concealed cistern.
The Neighbourhood: Bloomsbury
Bloomsbury is a central, leafy and historically very intellectual neighbourhood with a calm, peaceful vibe that contrasts wonderfully with the bustle of nearby Soho and Covent Garden. Known as the home of the "Bloomsbury Set" (including Virginia Woolf) and the British Museum, the area retains a scholarly, bookish energy. It features grand Georgian and Victorian garden squares like Russell Square and Bedford Square, which fill with students, readers, and locals on sunny days
This stretch of Grays Inn Road in particular also puts plenty right on your doorstep. Aux Pains de Papy, a family-run French bakery, sits just across the road for weekend croissants and fresh baguettes, while the Calthorpe Project, a much-loved community garden with its own café, offers a green escape practically next door. For evenings, The Water Rats is a storied local pub and live music venue a couple of minutes up the road. Head west and the Brunswick Centre brings a Waitrose and the Curzon Bloomsbury cinema, with the independent shops of Marchmont Street just beyond.
This apartment is also incredibly well connected. King's Cross St Pancras Station is around five minutes' walk away - served by the Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, plus Thameslink and Eurostar – with Russell Square Station also close by.
