Property description
In the heart of Kensington, there’s a real sense of elegance to Lexham Mews – a cobbled cul-de-sac with rows of immaculately restored coach houses. Positioned by a bricked entryway, this two-bedroom house echoes the refinement and quietude of its neighbourhood. Expect flawless finishes, considered furniture and a spacious footprint throughout.
With its whitewashed walls, series of large windows and oak floors, the reception room is uplifting and bright. Burnt-orange armchairs bring a pop of colour to the minimalist scheme, a wooden desk is beautifully sunlit and a long glass panel is carved into the floor – with views down to the lower-ground floor. At the rear of the space, a private suntrap patio features a green wall, reclaimed brickwork and integrated seating.
Bathed in natural light through the glass-topped ceiling void, the open-plan kitchen and dining room is a stage for tactile materiality: Carrara Royale marble floors underfoot, exposed brickwork brings textural depth and timber cabinetry gives the kitchen an organic warmth. A black quartz waterfall island centres the space – doubling as a breakfast bar – while hi-spec Miele appliances are integrated throughout. Beyond, rattan mid-century style chairs surround a circular table.
The staircase is defined by clean lines and abundant natural light, with cantilevered walnut treads, glass balustrades and picture windows channelling sunlight throughout each level. Spread across the first floor, the principal bedroom suite maintains the pared-back interior design: oak floors and whitewashed walls are illuminated through a pair of sash windows, while a large integrated wardrobe keeps things tidy. An en suite bathroom is wrapped in Selena Beige marble with underfloor heating. At the top of the home, there’s a voluminous feel to the guest bedroom – courtesy of vaulted walls and a skylight. Built-in storage and an en suite bathroom complete the scene.
Location
Lexham Mews offers a quieter side to one of London’s most established neighbourhoods. Head to the world-class museums of Exhibition Road in South Kensington, followed by fine dining at Macellaio RC, Cambio de Tercio, Yashin Ocean House or Margaux. For a change of pace, Brompton Cemetery – one of London’s seven historic burial grounds – offers leafy avenues and quiet corners for meditative strolls, as does Holland Park and with Japanese-inspired Kyoto Gardens. Kensington High Street is set for everyday essentials, while Chelsea’s iconic Kings Road is within easy reach for globally-acclaimed fashion. Come evening, catch music at The Troubadour and be home in fifteen.
