Property description
Just moments from the River Thames, Montrose Villas presents a compelling balance of heritage architecture and considered interior design. Arranged across three curated floors, this Victorian townhouse blends period character with contemporary highlights.
Behind the home’s front door and through the dark velvet portiere, the open-plan living space unfolds as the social heart of the home. Herringbone flooring flows seamlessly from a generous bay window at the front to French doors at the rear, as ample natural light illuminates the room. A marble mantle crowned with Medusa busts anchors the space, while a wood-burning stove beneath sets the scene for cosy evenings. A cobalt-blue L-shaped sofa sits centrally to the lounge, surrounded by gallery-like walls adorned with works by Raphael Mazzucco.
To the rear, the kitchen continues the home’s refined palette. Charcoal cabinetry is softened by pale grey-veined worktops, creating a visual contrast that’s both elegant and striking. Integrated appliances are discreet but effective. A duo of French doors opens onto a north-facing courtyard garden – an urban oasis lined with climbing greenery and mature shrubs. Offering total privacy and outdoor dining furniture, the space is primed for al fresco entertaining.
Upstairs, the first floor hosts three serene bedrooms, each imbued with soft tones and original features. Cream walls and white window shutters enhance the restful feel, while decorative fireplaces nod to the building’s history. The first guest bedroom benefits from its own marble-tiled en suite, while a chic family bathroom serves two further rooms.
The principal suite crowns the home – a calming retreat beneath a vaulted ceiling. Twin Velux windows bathe the space in natural light, while a sliding door reveals a spa-like en suite, complete with a skylit rainfall shower.
