Property description
Outside, a soaring townhouse bears witness to its period heritage with an elegant stucco frontage and portico. Inside, contemporary design fast-forwards this two-bedroom apartment into the 21st century. Pale bamboo floors draw you into the dual-aspect open-plan kitchen and reception room. South-facing bay windows flood the living area with natural light, which seamlessly flows into a dining zone.
Characteristic of the entire home, there’s compelling juxtaposition drawn between the building’s heritage and contemporary style: immaculate cornicing and a ceiling rose contrast with a Jehs + Laub chandelier – its polished aluminium frame adding an industrial edge. The conservatory-style kitchen is soothing and streamlined, with marble worktops, a granite-toned tile splashback and smooth whitewashed cabinetry. Before descending to the sleeping quarters, head outside to the garden where a wall of verdant bamboo plants provides a tranquil backdrop for alfresco entertaining.
Courtesy of a lightwell carved into the garden, the master bedroom suite enjoys reams of light cast across its spacious proportions. Soft grey carpets and pared-back walls lend attention to a blue velvet chaise longue – an inviting spot to press pause. To one side, a dedicated dressing room; to the other, an ensuite shower room is a tranquil space with smooth marble tiles. A guest bedroom – which has versatility to be used as an office or gym space – features floor-to-ceiling wardrobes for a clutter-free space. After a day in the city, take long soaks in the bathroom next door.
