Property description
St. Stephens Gardens is set in a nexus of quiet residential streets, caught between Westbourne Park Road and Westbourne Grove. The neighbourhood’s tranquil character is effortlessly continued inside this one-bedroom apartment, showcasing a contemporary reading on a period framework. Sweeping blonde wood floors draw you into the open-plan reception room and kitchen. Bearing the hallmarks of its architectural heritage, decorative cornicing accentuates the room’s high ceilings. There’s gallery-like sophistication to the striking artwork hung against whitewashed walls. Taking centre-stage, two cherry-red tuxedo sofas frame a feature marble fireplace.
A quiet sense of symmetry unfurls in the kitchen. Two walls of dark-toned cabinetry, smooth worktops and white mosaic splashbacks run parallel to each other – it’s a stylish and functional culinary space. At its centre, a marble-topped dining table is complete with a singular pendant light; details are thoughtfully-considered, a theme you’ll note throughout the home.
The double bedroom is a minimalist haven, with a pared-back palette illuminated through sash windows. Next door, a tranquil bathroom is wrapped in pale marble tiles. Complete with access to verdant communal gardens, this apartment epitomises a city sanctum.
St. Stephens Gardens has a best-of-both-worlds appeal, enjoying the quiet serenity of its residential location, but with fantastic proximity to the rest of Notting Hill. Westbourne Grove is lined with celebrated eateries, namely Farmacy, Granger & Co. and Ottolenghi. Groceries from Daylesford Organic Farm or Planet Organic. For a long weekend stroll, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens are just 15 minutes away. One of Notting Hill’s most coveted pubs, The Cow, is just around the corner.
