Property description
Tucked discreetly in the very heart of Mayfair, Albany has been a symbol of elegance and exclusivity since 1802, when it was converted from the home of the Duke of York into 69 bachelor apartments. The impressive Georgian building, designed by Henry Holland, rapidly became the residence of choice for aristocrats, writers, artists and politicians.
Over the centuries, luminaries like Lord Byron and Aldous Huxley graced its quiet halls, cultivating Albany’s mystique. This beautifully finished one-bedroom apartment presents an extremely rare opportunity to live in one of London’s most exclusive addresses.
The current owners have done an impeccable job in modernising the apartment while honouring the building’s heritage, celebrating the grandeur which includes high ceilings, rich wooden floors, and magnificent curved floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the reception room with natural light.
The ground floor features a generous reception room centred around a beautiful hand-carved fireplace, as well as a study and a convenient powder room. From the top floor, a gallery balcony overlooks the reception below, adding a sense of drama and sophistication.
On the lower ground floor, a vaulted brick ceiling crowns the spacious kitchen and dining area, which has been thoughtfully designed and fully equipped with modern appliances and marble countertops, perfect for both everyday living and grand entertaining.
The top floor is home to a well-proportioned bedroom, designed with bespoke built-in cabinetry to maximise storage, and a bathroom with elegant marble finishes.
Unfolding across the lower ground, ground, and first floors, this turnkey pied-à-terre offers a unique and flexible layout in a truly distinguished setting. Located mere moments from the luxury boutiques of Bond Street and the verdant Green Park, residents enjoy unparalleled access to London’s finest cultural and culinary offerings.
