Property description
Connaught Mews enjoys a quiet, sheltered setting while remaining just a short walk from everything Woolwich has to offer. The area is steeped in military history, surrounded by landmarks such as the Royal Artillery Barracks, whose grand frontage is among the longest of any building in the country, and the open green expanse of Woolwich Common on your doorstep.
Residents of Connaught Mews benefit from beautifully kept communal grounds and a recently renovated tennis court, a genuinely unusual perk this close to central London. Secure gated parking completes the package, offering real peace of mind. Inside, this ground floor apartment offers well-proportioned living space of approximately 527 sq ft. A welcoming entrance hall with built-in storage leads to a bright reception room measuring 16'7 x 11'10, with two windows drawing in natural light and plenty of room for both a lounge and a dining area. The separate kitchen is well laid out, keeping cooking neatly apart from your living space. The double bedroom (12'11 x 9'1) is a peaceful retreat with room for a double bed and furniture, and the bathroom includes a full-size bath with shower over, WC and basin. Parking inside the secured estate is included.
Transport links are excellent. The new Elizabeth line station connects Canary Wharf in 7 minutes, the City, the West End and Heathrow are also within easy reach. Woolwich Arsenal station (9 minute walk) provides National Rail services into London Bridge, Cannon Street and Charing Cross, and DLR connections across Docklands and to Stratford and Bank. Several bus routes run right next to the development, and Uber Boat by Thames Clippers services from Royal Arsenal Pier offer a scenic river commute to Greenwich, Canary Wharf and Central London.
The regenerated Royal Arsenal Riverside offers waterfront walks, bars and eateries, as well as Woolwich Works, the cultural venue hosting music, comedy and theatre within historic arsenal buildings.
This is a rare chance to rent a home that combines genuine historic character with modern convenience and excellent connectivity. Early viewing is highly recommended.
The property is offered unfurnished and is available to move in from mid-December.
Built in the late Georgian era, this elegant Grade II listed building began life as part of a military hospital before becoming Connaught Barracks in the nineteenth century. Today, its handsome yellow-stock brickwork, tall sash windows, classical pedimented entrance and striking chimney stacks remain beautifully preserved, set behind manicured lawns and tree-lined pathways that give the whole development a calm, almost collegiate feel.
