The South Bank remains one of London’s most dynamic and culturally significant neighbourhoods, renowned for its riverside walks, world-class entertainment venues and vibrant atmosphere, making Whitehouse Apartments one of the area’s most sought-after residential developments.
The Thames Riverside location is fabulous for walks along the river (Queens Walk), theatres, markets, and entertainment venues, with the West End and Covent Garden just across Waterloo Bridge.
Perfectly located opposite the Royal Festival Hall and moments from the vibrant South Bank, the apartment is within immediate reach of an outstanding selection of restaurants, cafés, theatres, galleries and riverside attractions including the National Theatre and Southbank Centre. Covent Garden and the West End are also within easy walking distance via Hungerford Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.
The Southbank Centre arts centre hosts a festival program of over 5,000 events every year across various genres, including art, theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, literature, and debate. Another major local landmark is the London Eye, the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel, conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects and launched in 2000. It has won over 85 awards for national and international tourism, outstanding architectural quality, and engineering achievement. The London Eye is available for corporate events and has become one of the most visited attractions in the UK.
The area of the present Southbank was severely damaged during the Second World War, which led to a major regeneration program. South Bank was chosen as the site for the Festival of Britain to spearhead this regeneration bringing a message of hope after World War Two. The bombed-out riverside was cleared and developed in 1951. The Royal Festival Hall remained as a permanent legacy and initiated an arts revival that saw the addition of other arts venues, such as the Hayward Gallery and Royal National Theatre, adding a second attraction to dining and outdoor entertainment.
2026 celebrates 75 years since the opening of the Royal Festival Hall and throughout 2026, Southbank Centre will be celebrating with a vibrant, inclusive programme that looks to the future.
