Property description
Cross the discreet threshold into Primrose Hill Studios and calm descends. Just off Fitzroy Road in the heart of Primrose Hill, this tucked-away courtyard of buildings was once home to an artistic community, from Proms founder Sir Henry Wood to the illustrator Arthur Rackham and the pre-Raphaelite painter JW Waterhouse.
The same sense of openness and creativity that inspired its predecessors lives on. Step inside this low-slung red-brick house and the vertical footprint unexpectedly soars. If it’s space you crave, the double-height living area will satisfy. Amplifying the sense of volume, a towering window faces northwest, making the room a magnet for soft natural light.
Despite its scale, the space feels inviting. Centred around a fireplace and overlooked by a mezzanine level, it’s zoned between seating and dining areas that flow seamlessly into a separate kitchen. Finished in neutral tones and featuring ample preparation space and a breakfast bar, this is a room you’ll want to cook in.
The bedroom continues the minimal mood, with white walls, wooden floors and fitted storage. The accompanying bathroom is generous in size, featuring a bathtub with a shower and twin towel rails.
Surveying it all, the standout mezzanine level can serve as a peaceful study area or occasional guest bedroom. Below, a large basement level extends the footprint, offering valuable storage space.
Location
As locations go, Primrose Hill Studios is unbeatable for culture, community and green space. Metres from your front door, independent shops, cafés and restaurants line the way to spectacular skyline views. The panorama from the summit of the namesake hilltop park – one of six protected viewpoints in London – is worth the climb. Refuel with brunch at Greenberry. Regent’s Park is also moments away for morning runs around the boating lake. Dining options are plentiful here; for laid back evenings, there’s The Engineer and The Lansdowne – or try Lemonia for special occasions. Or venture further into Camden or Hampstead, both within walking distance.
Chalk Farm – 10 mins (Northern)
