There's a lovely ease to this one-bedroom first-floor flat in a handsome Victorian building on a tree-lined N4 street. Light pours in through tall sash windows, the outlook is a canopy of green and every room has been finished with real thought. It's a home that feels considered rather than simply decorated.
A private staircase leads up from the front door to your own entrance, where a glazed transom above the door lets borrowed light spill into the hall. Step through and the flat opens into a bright open-plan kitchen and reception that measures almost 16ft at its longest and 13ft across. Warm, light oak-tone wood-effect flooring runs underfoot throughout, and the tall sash windows frame the treetops. It's the kind of room that changes character through the day, from slow weekend mornings to long summer evenings with the windows open.
The kitchen is the showpiece. Soft sage green shaker-style cabinetry sits against marble-effect worktops and a full-height marble-effect splashback, with a brushed brass swan-neck tap over the stainless steel sink for a touch of warmth. There's an integrated oven, an induction hob and a stainless steel chimney-style extractor, plus a peninsula neatly divides cooking from living without closing anything off. Chunky timber shelves on black iron brackets are ready for cookbooks, plants and favourite ceramics.
The living area is generous enough for a sofa, a television and a proper desk by the window, so working from home comes with a view of the trees. A statement paper-lantern pendant adds a soft glow after dark.
The bedroom is a good double, with a sash window, a run of built-in alcove shelving and a full-width sliding-door wardrobe that takes care of storage with ease.
The bathroom is sleek and contemporary, with large-format travertine-effect tiles, a full-size bath with an overhead rainfall shower, a black-framed glass screen and matt black fittings. A white vanity unit with a semi-recessed basin and a mirrored cabinet above finish the room.
Outside, the building has period presence, with columned entrance pillars, an elegant bay and a classic brick façade, and on-street parking is available along this quiet, leafy road. It suits single pringles and couples equally well.
The Neighbourhood: Finsbury Park.
Gloucester Drive puts you between two of North London's best-connected corners, which is ideal for a busy working week. Finsbury Park Station offers the Victoria and Piccadilly lines plus Great Northern services, with direct trains reaching Moorgate in around 13 minutes and King's Cross in about six. Manor House Station adds the Piccadilly line on the other side and four bus routes run along Blackstock Road.
Remote working is also well catered for here too. Abraço on Blackstock Road is laptop friendly on weekdays opens at 7am on weekdays and does a very good sourdough, which makes it an easy place to settle in with a laptop and a flat white. Blighty Coffee is also happy to cater to remote workers and also has a dedicated co-working space above it. Between calls, Finsbury Park itself is a short stroll away, with wide paths made for a walking meeting or a lunchtime reset at the park cafe with views of the city.
Meanwhile, Blackstock Road, one of the area's liveliest streets, is on hand for an array of excellent independent cafés and restaurants perfect for weekend or evening catch-ups with friends and family. Time Out named the street one of Europe's coolest in late 2025. Dilara serves Uyghur hand-pulled noodles, Caffeine Corner is great for breakfast with excellent coffee, matcha, vegan pastries and homemade cakes, while The Woodbine is a long-standing neighbourhood pub that's both kid and dog-friendly. Closer to Manor House Station, Buns on Fire is a favourite for burgers and The Finsbury is a live-music pub with a terrace on Green Lanes over looking the park, handy for an easy pint after work.
