Property description
Whittington is a village which lies approximately 3 miles south east of Lichfield and is one of the most sought-after places to live. Two canals pass through the parish and each bridge is listed plus there are many other buildings which are listed within this historic village.
One of the most historic buildings in the village is The Old School. In 1741, Sarah Neal started a school for poor children. When Reverend Levett died in 1802 (leaving a legacy), a handsome gothic building for a girls' and infants' school was built in 1864.Children continued to be educated here until 1968 when a new school was built in Common Lane.
The Gothic style school and its site, has been sympathetically restored, enhanced and developed by the Landlord. The restoration has combined the character of the original school with a modern and contemporary style for both the renovation and the new builds. The fittings include stunning Shaker style kitchens with Silestone worktops with integrated Belling Range and hood which has an induction hob! Also included will be a Samsung French style fridge/freezer and Bosch integrated dishwasher and washer/dryer.Throughout the property there is superb quality Karndean flooring, Hi Tech Worcester Bosch gas heating systems with Bluetooth thermostats and HIVE controlled under floor heating.Villeroy and Boch bathrooms with Porcelanosa tiles plus fully integrated SKY throughout each property. In most rooms, there are power sockets with usb chargers plus each property will have its own personal electric car charger.
This stunning property has the benefit of two allocated parking spaces within double gates of the garden which is via the secure gated courtyard. The courtyard also has plenty of visitor spaces too.
The Landlord also secured the old youth club which has been lovingly restored and renamed to Admiral House. All windows are set in a stone surround and have been restored in keeping with the age of the property.Throughout though, the property is a wonderful mix of character and the contemporary.
Entrance to the property is through double gates off the main courtyard where a large block paved parking area and garden can be found. There is a stone patio which extends down the side of the property to a sun trap of a patio to the rear by the kitchen.
The lawned area has a high wall and to the side of the entrance door. Please note to the side is a cellar which is not for the use of the tenant.
The double doors open up into a spacious hallway with an old fire bell to one side.
An opening leads to the main living accommodation which is absolutely stunning.A cathedral height ceiling with beams with three huge windows to each side - this room really does have the WOW factor. There is plenty of room for sofas and a dining table for at least 12 people plus the exquisite kitchen has integrated appliances as well as a huge breakfast bar - ideal for socialising. The owner also managed to restore one of the original chalk boards used in the Old School and now sits as a feature to the wall.
Off the hallway is a main bathroom with bath, separate double shower cubicle and fabulous window. There are two double sized bedrooms also with lovely windows and beams to the ceiling off the inner hallway where a door can be found to the rear patio and a preserved archway which was presumably originally a fireplace.
The master suite has full height windows overlooking the war memorial, beams to the ceiling plus a large window to the side.It has a light and spacious ensuite shower room with a double shower cubicle.
With the historic town of Lichfield just a few minutes away, Trent Valley train station within a short drive and the A38 on your doorstep, these properties are ideal for the professional looking for an idyllic but convenient location with top quality accommodation.
Whittington has a wide variety of community groups and activities, several shops, two village pubs (including The Dog across the road from the development and The Bell) and a popular Local Food & Craft Market. As well as the traditional Church Fete, the Parish Council organize, an annual Countryside Fair with proceeds supporting village community groups and projects. The Staffordshire Regiment Museum is also close by at the historic Whittington Barracks along with the Whittington Heath golf course described as "the best Harry Colt designed course in Staffordshire".The properties are also within the King Edward V1 school catchment for senior school and 6th form.
