**Property Description**
Some homes offer space, while others offer atmosphere. This remarkable lodge offers a rare opportunity to rent a characterful historic home within a private country estate, surrounded by mature woodland and open countryside, yet within easy reach of Lancaster.
Dating from around 1800, the Grade II listed lodge was originally built to serve the southern entrance to the Quernmore Park estate. Its distinctive architecture comprises a central gabled section flanked by single-storey wings, constructed in traditional sandstone beneath a slate roof. Mature trees frame the property, while the private lawned garden and open outlook create a wonderful sense of privacy and tranquillity.
The setting is a particular highlight. The property benefits from licensed access to the wider estate grounds, including woodland and historic gardens surrounding the principal house, subject to the terms of the licence. The surrounding landscape offers an appealing setting for countryside walks and those looking to enjoy a more peaceful pace of life.
Inside, the reception room retains plenty of original character, with exposed wooden beams, a traditional fireplace and a broad multi-paned window overlooking the surrounding greenery. Traditional timber doors and built-in shelving add further charm and character.
The separate kitchen features a window overlooking the grounds, timber-fronted cabinetry and space for the principal appliances. A separate utility and boiler area provides useful additional storage.
The generous bedroom is another appealing feature, with exposed beams and dual-aspect windows providing natural light and views across the countryside. The accommodation is completed by a bathroom fitted with both a bath and a separate shower enclosure.
Despite its secluded setting, the lodge remains conveniently positioned for local amenities and transport links. Lancaster city centre is approximately 3.8 km away, with Lancaster railway station approximately 4.2 km away and Lancaster University's central campus approximately 5.5 km away. The M6 motorway at Junction 34 is approximately 2.7 km from the property, offering convenient access to the wider North West and beyond.
This is a truly distinctive rental property, ideally suited to someone seeking a peaceful home with historic character, attractive outdoor space and a unique countryside setting, without losing the convenience of Lancaster's shops, restaurants, university and transport connections.
An exceptional opportunity to rent a charming piece of local history in a beautiful rural setting.
