LOCAL AREA INFORMATION Bar Hill is located about four miles northwest of Cambridge city centre on the A14 trunk road. Its name originated from being built along an old Roman Road that had a toll bar as well as being on around the many hills in the area.

The village has a retail park which includes large Tesco Superstore/petrol station plus other stores. A local pub serving food and drinks, a social club,as well as a choice of takeaways. There is also a library in which a post office is located.

The village has 2 main playgrounds just off the Village Green with smaller equipment spread out throughout the village green spaces. There is an enclosed Astro football pitch and 2 tennis courts.
